JAG Hot Wire: New Artists & Collections to Discover

Welcome to our new section! While everyone is getting ready for vacation, the gallery's editorial team is hard at work. Honestly, there's plenty to do. It's particularly exciting that we've welcomed 14 new artists to our community in the past week. Plus, we've added 187 new artworks to our gallery's collection. There's so much to see!

Let's talk about the latest news and updates from the gallery 👇

What's New?

So, what's been happening to us lately? Firstly, we've introduced several new features to artist profiles in the gallery. Buyers can now find information about how the artwork will be delivered, which is provided by the artists themselves. We've also worked on enhancing the communication tools between artists and collectors.

It's great to see new members joining our community. This means our social network for art enthusiasts is growing 😉

Below, we'll introduce you to some new artists whose works are already available in our gallery.

Irina Dashkina

A professional Ukrainian artist specializing in conceptual portraits. She has participated in art exhibitions around the world, including Promenade Center Gallery (2018), Lonzi, Germany (2022), and Modi Art Gallery (2023).

💡 Conceptual portraits are a unique form of artistic expression that goes beyond mere representation. They delve into the deeper meaning and symbolism behind the subject, exploring emotions, ideas, and concepts. These portraits often challenge traditional notions of portraiture by incorporating abstract elements, surreal imagery, or thought-provoking compositions, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on a deeper intellectual and emotional level. Through conceptual portraits, artists push the boundaries of conventional portraiture and offer a fresh perspective on the complexities of human identity and existence.

Also, she has cool conceptual landscapes, like this one:

Alex Loskutov

A professional artist from the United States who creates stunning digital collages. He has exhibited his works in Boston (MA) and Chicago (IL).

💡 A digital collage is a contemporary artistic technique where different visual elements, such as photographs, graphics, textures, and text, are combined digitally to create a new cohesive composition. Unlike traditional collage that involves physically cutting and pasting materials, digital collage is done using graphic design software or image editing tools. This digital medium allows artists to experiment with a wide range of possibilities, seamlessly blending various elements, manipulating colors and textures, and applying filters and effects. The result is a visually striking and often surreal artwork that combines disparate elements to convey a specific concept, narrative, or aesthetic vision.

Josh Loader

A professional artist from New Zealand who has participated in exhibitions such as the Peninsula Art Auction (Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand, 2019) and the Christchurch Art Show (Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, 2017).

📖 Josh Loader describes himself as:

Time is not the quality of arts. Observe nature’s abstract aesthetics. Visual art is significant in that it becomes tangible right throughout the process, not ethereal as like that of a sound. Yet a picture can express a sound, and likewise, a sound can express a form. The essence of intersection also applies between the abstract and the real, one defines the other’s space. My hope is that we take time to enjoy the arts at all levels without too much comparison. The wholeness of an individual is expressed in community, and likewise, the substance of community is generated by self.

Silvia Hara

A professional artist from Bulgaria who has already won the JAG Award for Best Painting of the Week. She has received grants in the field of art and has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Art Gallery "Dea" (Sofia, Bulgaria, 1998), Private Gallery (Sofia, Bulgaria, 1999), and Old Lyme Gallery (Connecticut, USA, 2000), among others.

Her special area is an abstract art

💡 Abstract art is a style of visual art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality. Instead, it emphasizes shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its expressive and aesthetic goals. Abstract art is often non-representational, meaning it does not directly represent recognizable objects or scenes. Instead, it focuses on conveying emotions, ideas, or concepts through the use of abstract and non-objective elements. This art form allows artists to explore and experiment with various techniques, compositions, and color palettes, encouraging viewers to interpret and engage with the artwork on a subjective and personal level.

Gennadii Nikitin

A professional artist from Bulgaria who creates original and vibrant contemporary sculptures.

📖 Gennadii Nikitin describes himself as:

I am a member of the art club Spring. I have passed competitive selection for participation in city and regional exhibitions. I have collaborated with interior designers on woodcarving, bas-reliefs, and sculptures. Now I live in Bulgaria, where I exhibit my work in art galleries and online platforms. My childhood hobby of sculpting figurines from plasticine developed into a love for sculpture. I am professionally engaged in woodcarving.

Katerina Kovalchuk

An artist from Ukraine with a talent for still life paintings and flower artworks. Katerina's depictions of vegetables, fruits, and flowers look lifelike!

💡 Contemporary still life paintings bring a unique perspective to the traditional genre of still life. They go beyond simply depicting objects and arrangements and offer a fresh and innovative approach. Contemporary artists often play with unconventional compositions, challenging traditional arrangements and perspectives. They may incorporate unexpected angles, unusual juxtapositions, or fragmented views, creating dynamic and visually intriguing compositions. These still life paintings delve into deeper layers of symbolism and meaning. Artists infuse their compositions with personal narratives, cultural references, and social commentary, inviting viewers to interpret the artwork in various ways and engage with the underlying messages.

Hanna Sharko

A Ukrainian artist who has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Exhibition in Chinadiyiv (Saint Miklos Castle-Palace, 2011) and the Young People Exhibition (Mukachevo Art Gallery, 2016). She has an exceptional talent for watercolor painting!

💡 People buy watercolor paintings for various reasons, as this medium offers unique qualities and appeals to different preferences and interests.  Watercolor is known for its transparent and luminous nature, allowing artists to create delicate washes, subtle gradients, and ethereal effects. This quality lends watercolor paintings a sense of lightness and spontaneity, evoking a certain mood or atmosphere that can resonate with viewers. Pigments can produce vibrant and vivid hues, creating a sense of liveliness and vibrancy in the artwork. The way the colors blend and interact on the paper can result in captivating and unexpected effects, adding an element of surprise and visual interest.

Oktay Örnek

An artist from Turkey who portrays life from different perspectives. He uses original and dark color palettes and works in various genres, from portraits to seascapes.

💡 Seascapes refer to a genre of art that focuses on the depiction of coastal or marine scenes. Seascapes typically feature the ocean, beaches, shores, cliffs, and other elements associated with the sea. Artists who specialize in seascapes aim to capture the beauty, mood, and essence of the marine environment. It can vary in style and technique, ranging from realistic and detailed portrayals to impressionistic or abstract interpretations. They often showcase the interplay of light and shadow on the water, the movement of waves, the vastness of the horizon, and the unique characteristics of coastal landscapes.

Luciana Livi

A professional artist from Italy who has participated in numerous art exhibitions and projects, including interior decoration projects for hotels such as Hotel Imperial Sport (Pesaro, Italy, 2023), Hotel Calarosa (Stintino, Sardinia, Italy, 2022), and Hotel Ancora (Stintino, Sardinia, Italy, 2021), among others.

📖 Luciana Livi describes herself as:

Luciana Livi tries to focus on the emotions that spring from the act of remembering. In her artworks, a sort of frame materializes, which is a locked and poetic form of memory, as if trying to stop an emotion, to make it powerful as a fixed idea, capable of acquiring a kind of eternity.

Ozlem Nalçacı

A professional artist from Turkey who has participated in various art exhibitions and projects. She has also won the JAG Award for Best Painting of the Week.

Her special point is cityscape art!

💡 Cityscape art refers to a genre of visual art that focuses on depicting urban landscapes, specifically the architectural features, streets, buildings, and overall atmosphere of a city or urban environment. Cityscape artworks capture the essence and character of cities, showcasing their unique architectural styles, bustling streets, iconic landmarks, and the energy of urban life.
