Una in aliam – 01-09-19 This oil painting is based on my drawing ‘Nude – 17-06-15’. An artist often sees one thing in another. Salvador Dali saw a rhinoceros in Vermeer’s Lacemaker. I saw a horse in a women’s thigh. Often working on a larger scale than a drawing there is more to be told so I extended the story employing the legend of The Amazons. In today’s era women need a little support. Oil on wood panel (71,8 x 82,4 x 0.9 cm) Artist: Corné Akkers
1969, born in Nijmegen. My work can be seen in many countries all over the world. I employ a variety of styles that all have one thing in common: the ever search for the light on phenomena and all the shadows and light planes they block in. My favorites in doing so are oil paint, dry pastel and graphite pencil. It is not the form or the theme that counts but the way planes of certain tonal quality vary and block in the lights.
