Description of the Artwork “Angelic Light in Primitivist Painting”

Automatic translation

In this work, Marcelo Fidélis captures the essence of a 'lonely angel' in an abstract and primitive context. The use of oil pastels brings a rich, deep texture, where water elements—represented by bottles, drops and splashes—create an almost tangible sensation of freshness and movement. The angel's form, although abstract, emerges with an angelic softness that contrasts with the rusticity of the primitivist style. The light colors and fluid contours evoke feelings of tranquility and isolation, while every detail pays homage to the fleeting moment and ephemeral beauty captured on canvas. This painting is not just a visual representation, but a deep dive into the lonely and serene soul of the angel portrayed.

About the artist

Born in Barbacena- MG, Marcelo Fidélis is a self-taught artist. His relationship with art dates back to when he was a child and trained as a cook. He currently develops work using experimental techniques linked to sculpture, painting, cooking and skateboarding. His work revolves around the simple representation of the human face, establishing different variations through materials, textures, colors and expressions, towards a sculptural process of the surface, valuing manual work. His work is an invitation to a natural, pure and instinctive experience, combined with the primitive and the strength of the face as a means of encounter, presence and expression.
