Description of the Artwork “Icarus: Flight to Freedom”

Automatic translation

This drawing, created by Manuel U. Lima in 1987, shows the ambitious feat of Icarus trying to escape the labyrinth with wings built by his father, Daedalus. The technique used by the artist enriches the historical representation by adding modern details to the city, the tower, and the silhouettes of houses, offering a figurative interpretation that fuses ancient art with contemporary settings. The 37 × 28 cm composition is meticulously detailed, transporting the viewer to a world where myth and reality intertwine.
