In Sonny Andersson's poignant representation of Geronimo, the untamed spirit of the Apache Chief is immortalized against the backdrop of his tumultuous era. Through introspective eyes, the portrait invites the viewer into a narrative woven with resilience, leadership, and profound depth. The presence of the rifle, a weapon symbolizing both warfare and craftsmanship, speaks volumes of Geronimo's duality as a warrior and a protector of his people. The ethereal silhouettes of horses, never fully in focus, suggest the fleeting freedom that Geronimo and his tribe once galloped through, evoking a sense of nostalgia and lost heritage. Andersson's choice of the realism style intensifies the connection between the viewer and the subject, making Geronimo's story not just a tale of the past but a continuing legacy that holds relevance even today.
I was born and raised in Grimsås Tranemo municipality but since 2020 I live in Helsingborg Sweden Since I retired as an accountant in 2019, I can now devote myself to my painting. I now work mostly on commissioned paintings from digital photographs and passionately strive to create realistic paintings that only come from constantly improving my craft through continuous training and study. As a portrait painter, I use a traditional oil painting technique layer upon layer wet on wet that captures the feeling of joy in the oil painting process. What you get is a portrait created in the same way as portraits you would find in a museum and thus has lasting value.
