My graduation work at the Kharkov Art College. I was 18 years old. For a long time I could not part with her, she was dear to me as a memory. The work was in my collection. Now I'm ready to let her go. I use as a quote a fragment of Marc Chagall's painting "Above the City", where he is depicted flying with his wife Bella. This is an allegory of ideal love, lightness, our idea of love, something idealized. At the bottom, a couple is depicted trying to play the violin together, creating a melody, thereby being an allegory of earthly love. The composition uses clear zoning, thus each of the couples has its own space. Against the background - the central part of the silhouette of the city, the houses are angular, their forms are aggressive. This creates a contrast that highlights the fragility of the relationship. The city lives its own life, everything goes on as usual, but even in this cycle something beautiful is created, which, I hope, will turn from earthly love into heavenly love, without breaking into the realities of life.
