Gela Mikava, Georgia

Email Address: gelamikava7@gmail.com Gela Mikava is a Georgian artist. He was born in Zugdidi on November 16, 1995, in a family of IDPs from Abkhazia. Gela won his first art competition at the age of 6, when he drew the image of the Coat of Arms of Georgia with chalk. ARTIST STATEMENT Without the ability to actualize an idea or concept, art would not exist. My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the ideas that I have about myself and the world I live in. I do not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept. Each piece I create is simultaneously an extension from the past, where l've come from and what I've learned, as well as a preview of the future, where I'm going.I like the idea that form doesn't necessarily need function, but I also like the idea that function has to work with form and form has to work with function. At this stage, I am working on two series, "Alienation" and "Bijouteria".
