Description of the Artwork “The Survivor”

18X24 Oil on Canvas It isn’t about how much you handle before you break, it’s about how much you handle after you break. This painting isn’t for everyone, but for everyone it is for, it says more than most of us know how to put in words. If you look at it and feel sad, it’s not for you. This girl isn’t someone to feel sad for, she is the survivor, she has been broken and knocked down over and over, and she continues to fight. If you assume loud is strong and quiet is weak, that tears mean you’ve given up and a smile means you’re ok - There are some things you can only learn from inside the storm, and this isn’t a storm you’ve been in.

Rebekah Molander, United States

Gustav Klimt said "Art is a line around your thoughts.” I love that. That is exactly what art is to me. All my thoughts that are constantly running through my mind, all my words that that are constantly failing me. Things I want to say, but I’m not sure how, that’s why I paint. All the beautiful things and all the sad things that are in that I don’t know how to get out. And if means something to someone else, if they can see it and think I’ve felt that, or thought that and didn’t know how to say it, than that is even better. But mostly my art is just a collection of my thoughts, my dreams, my feelings, my stories I never told anyone.
