About the artist

CURRICULUM VITAE She was born on Christmas Eve 1971. She was fascinated and loved art as a child. In 1989 she studied Statistics while attending various Art classes in different Art laboratories both in Cyprus and abroad. She was especially influenced by sculptor Tatiana Goddard which affected the development of her future work. Androniki is involved professionally in creating small sculptures and artistically designed dolls. She uses paper, handmade paper pulp and other reused material. The material she uses and the process of assembling giver her sculptures great durability and resilience over time. The paper pulp is a material that isn’t heated and the maintenance of the art is available if needed. The works of art are handmade and unique by the artist and no tools are used for the sculptures. She doesn’t use patterns, drafts or sketches or molds to form her sculptures. This makes every piece of art unrepeatable, irreplaceable and unique. Every piece of art is a precious collective item to be cherished for years to come. She paints her sculptures with tea, acrylic paints and watercolors. She gets inspired by her feelings and current events. As we are going through a difficult period in time it is inevitable that this is reflected in her work. Basically she uses figures and sculptures to express herself. She creates figures reminiscent of our childhood at a different time. Her art reminds you of old child’s toys and happy childhood memories that are in sharp contrast to current affairs and destructive powers around the world. So her works of art sometimes have a playful and humorous attitude and other times her art seem troubled, sad, melancholic and bewildered. Androniki has exhibited her work at the Nicosia Pop Up festival. She has also worked on 13 pieces influenced by the work of Glyn Hughes. This work was presented exclusively from NIMAC under the frame of the retroactive exhibition of Glyn Hughes. You can find her pieces of art in private collections all over Cyprus but also in Europe, especially Russia and even in the USA. Art pieces inspired by fairytales belong in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Fairytales in Nicosia. Her work is presented and sold in various exhibitions.
