About the artist Svetlana Plugareva

SVETLANA PLUGAREVA My name is Svetlana Plugareva, I am 54 years old and I am an artist from Russia. My childhood was mostly spent in the Russian North where I had started studying art in Pushkin art school. I graduated as an artist-re-storer after we moved to my mother homeland in Moldova. I took a very long break into my art career and came back to it a few years ago, after my trip through Sri-Lanka, in an absolutely different approach. I observe the nature of art and the birth of creative meaning and then translate it to reality using natural spices combining it with acryl and potal. Abstractionism is my art language, because I am trying to express my soul through many shades, textures and materials, with a brush and a palette knife, also using my hands, fingers and palms, so that emotions and meanings can be combined into the creation.

WHAT IS ART - 6TH EDITION 8 - 13 SEPTEMBER 2023 BOOMER GALLERY 150 TOOLEY STREET | TOWER BRIDGE, LONDON What is art in the 21st century? What Makes It Valuable? The discourse on the nature of art in the 21st century has never been more intriguing. While some creators remain firmly rooted in the traditions of their craft, others boldly venture into uncharted termtories, invoking a constant debate around the central question - What Is Art? What makes it valuable? In the modern art world, it's evident that success doesn't adhere to a single style or approach. The diverse paths taken by some of the world's most renowned and affluent artists underscore the idea that every unique style of art can become valuable. Art is not an easily defined concept. This is why we've invited two of the world's leading art experts to share their insights about what is art and what makes it valuable. Special guests: Yuxi Wang, International Project Director from Shanghai Himalayas Museum, and Anthony Fawcett, art critic and historian from Oxford University. This exhibition is designed not merely to showcase art but to stimulate conversation between divergent paths within contemporary art. The aim is to prove that success in the art world is not a monolithic concept but a spectrum of possibilities, each as valid and valuable as the next.
