Sanjay Punekar, Contemporary Indian Artist | Abstract & Semi-Abstract Paintings Sanjay Punekar (b. 1979, Rui–Indapur, Maharashtra) is a contemporary Indian artist whose work is deeply rooted in nature, spirituality, and lived experience. Raised in a farmer’s family amidst the Sahyadri hills, his early connection with the land shaped a refined sensitivity to rhythm, texture, and silence. Trained at Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune, Sanjay later established his professional practice in New Delhi, exhibiting widely in solo and group shows. His works form part of important public and private collections in India and abroad. Inspired by meditation, dreams, and Indian philosophical traditions, his paintings translate natural energy into contemplative visual form. Balancing abstraction with emotional depth, Sanjay Punekar’s art offers collectors an authentic, timeless presence—rooted in cultural memory yet resonating on an international stage.
