I was born and grew up in South Korea. Growing up in the southeastern part of Korea I found art quite naturally. I was more like a quiet kid and rather enjoyed spending time by doing things that did not need too much physical movement such as calligraphy and drawing. From the time I can remember I was always a kind of kid who liked to think, draw, and read. As long as I had the tools I need to draw, I always had such a pleasure expressing what I was doing. And, that led me to think about art for my future. After graduating from Seoul Women’s University with a BFA I pursued an international education, completing an MA at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, then an MFA at New York’s Pratt Institute. Each place and experience has informed my creative process. My painting reflects a line-based language, defined by layers and color combinations. Through the lines, I make on canvas, I feel more poised and more myself; my painting helps to find myself, even more, every day. My work has been shown in cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, and Seoul.
