About the artist Andrey Chebotaru

Andrey Chebotaru is a talented painter hailing from a family of artists and a renowned Ukrainian artist himself. He masterfully creates still lifes, landscapes, and abstract works, with his primary medium being oil on canvas. Born in 1984 in Sevastopol (Crimea, Ukraine) into a family of artists, his father, Nikolai Chebotaru, is a well-known Ukrainian painter whose works are more classically oriented. From an early age, Andrey showed a deep interest in art and drawing, often finding inspiration in the beauty of his hometown and its natural surroundings. He began studying art at local art schools, where his first mentors recognized his exceptional talent and dedication. After completing school, Andrey graduated from the Crimean Art School named after N. Samokish, and later pursued further education at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where he studied under Nikolai Storozhenko. This period was crucial for his development as an artist, and his works began to be featured in local exhibitions. Andrey Chebotaru works in a variety of genres, but landscapes and still lifes hold a special place in his work. He prefers to use oil paints and impasto techniques, creating vibrant and richly textured canvases. His style is often described as modern impressionism, with a frequent play of light and shadow that adds depth and emotional resonance to his works, reflecting his inner feelings and experiences. While studying in the landscape workshop under Zabashta and Melnichuk, Andrey evolved his palette, filling his paintings with vivid, bright colors and a sense of continuous movement. The artist primarily focuses on landscapes in his work, painting his beloved Crimea and its picturesque surroundings, as well as views of southern Ukraine (Odessa region – Vilkovo, Gribovka, Zatoka), urban landscapes of Kyiv, the vast Carpathians, and many other locations. He is also well-traveled, capturing the beauty of landscapes in Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, France, the UAE, and beyond. Andrey has participated in numerous plein air painting sessions and exhibitions, both Ukrainian and international. He has also held solo exhibitions in cities such as Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Simferopol, Dnipro, Sevastopol, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Lviv, Transcarpathia, and internationally in France, the UAE, China, Montenegro, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia, among others. Today, his works are held in museums and private collections across Ukraine, Europe, the USA, and Asia. Andrey Chebotaru's art is highly regarded for its sincerity, technical mastery, and ability to capture the beauty of the world around him. He continues to grow as an artist while staying true to his artistic vision and pursuit of excellence. Chebotaru is a prominent figure in Ukrainian art, making a unique contribution to the country’s cultural heritage. His work continues to inspire and captivate audiences and critics worldwide, securing his place as an important representative of contemporary Ukrainian art.
