Scythian archer. Historical and battle painting by Andrey Serebryakov. Cossack era. The history of the Cossacks has become an integral and organic part of the history of Ukraine, as well as the world historical process. For a long time, the most courageous and hardened in battles with the enemies of their land representatives of the Ukrainian people were organized into a separate historical community - the Cossacks. Ukrainian Cossacks saw themselves as knights, ie free people, whose way of life was determined by military craft and belonging to a clearly defined military organization.
