Description of the Artwork “Young and Old”
A wooden sculpture called "Youth and Old Age". The artistic composition is handmade from the root of an apple tree and therefore is unique in its kind and practically unique. This work, in addition to the striking decorative effect, carries a deep philosophical meaning and will perform a powerful educational function. Looking at this artistic product, you can see two bas-reliefs, the heads of an old man and a young man, which organically protrude from the solid root of the tree. The idea of sculpture is not new, even the great Leonardo turned to the brush to express the eternal conflict of fathers and children. It's an ideological work of art in which the author is trying to reveal to us a deep philosophy. Youth and old age are the essence of one process called life. The beginning and the end. Alpha and Omega.
Oleg Demchenko. Born 1964 ..... Ukraine. 1971 - 1981 High school. 1982 - 1984 Army Service. 1986 - 1989 Moscow Correspondence People's University of Arts. Faculty of Fine Arts, Decorative and Design Department. 1989 - 1993 artist working as a designer at a local factory. 1994-1996 modeler-sculptor in the regional art workshop. Since 2000, engaged in professional sculpture. I work in such materials as wood, concrete, granite, and bronze. Had orders in monumental sculpture - monuments to Prince Vladimir and prince Malu, founder of the ancient city of Malin Zhytomyr region. Also orders in the genre of park sculpture. Now I work with small forms. Works are common in Europe and Africa. My favorite theme is human psychology. The spiritual meaning of life as well as sports. I try to reflect on those facets of human life which are not seen in everyday life.
