About the artist

Art is a mirror for the creator and the observer. And the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to channel fears, hopes, secret desires and acquired experience into a reflection of one’s potential. Oleksandr’s visual language is metaphorical and eclectic, it is a product of the imagination of a mature artist, formed on avant-garde films and art-house cartoons, adventure stories and folk tales. His works raise the mood and create harmony in space, it is an embodiment that shows the realization of the desired aesthetics. Using a combination of form and texture, color, light and shadow, he explores various compositional solutions, captures and creates unusual, poetic images, navigating the space between the imaginary and natural worlds. Oleksandr follows his curiosity into the unknown to see how fantasies crystallize in photographs. Contemplating the works, you immerse yourself in a fictional, but real and familiar world of dreams, fantasies, worries and memories. Serhiienko Oleksandr was born on a chilly October evening in 1985 in the city of Donetsk, lives and works in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine. He became interested in photography during his school years, when he got his hands on a film camera “Kyiv 19M”.
