Description of the Artwork “MY SELF PORTRAIT”
I begin by saying that it has been very difficult to make the painting “MY SELF-PORTRAIT”, if we take the definition of a self-portrait… “as a portrait made of the same person who makes it. It is one of the deepest exercises of analysis that an artist can do. It involves scrutinizing your face and knowing yourself to such a point that the expression you have at that moment is translated into the drawing or painting you address.” ...after a long journey through painting, more than 40 years, trying different techniques, crafts and an endless number of subjects and materials, one day 5 years ago I decided to THROW MYSELF, my question, HOW DIFFICULT, to be able to do it? ...and I began to make different sketches, until finally there was one of many that I IDENTIFY, painting my favorite subject “CANDLES”, using acrylic and oil, only black, white, gray, and some red on a support of canvas with aged newspaper glued with cold glue, as a support,….

Estela Del Valle Mañez, Chile
Born in 1959, Curicó. Of Chilean and Spanish Nationality. He graduated with distinctions in the degree of “Advertising with a Mention in Creativity”, from the “Universidad del Pacífico” 1983, Santiago, Chile. She is a graduate of the IAA. That year he began his career as a visual artist, and held multiple group and personal exhibitions in Chile, Mexico, Argentina, the United States and Spain. Then, personal participation in various National and International Competitions is highlighted, such as “Codelco Chile” (Honorable Mention), “Brushes Against Wind and Tide”, Talcahuano (Honorable Mention), “Ojo con Chile”, “XXV Salón of Autumn Painting Plasencia Extremadura” Spain (Honorable Mention), “DIARIO EL CENTRO AWARD” “BEST CULTURAL MANAGER”. Currently, his Works are in Museums, Art Gallerys and private collections, in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Europe and the United States, and there are various future projects where new personal exhibitions and the continuation of artistic and social competitions in Arte del Valle predominate.
