Kupala is a religious Ukrainian holiday with a mystical meaning. In the evening, they light a fire and jump over it in pairs, holding hands - if the hands separate during the jump - the couple is destined not to be together. And the girls weave wreaths and let them down the river: the guy who catches her wreath is narrowed. But the most important mysticism begins at night, when the fern blooms. His flower is guarded by evil spirits. They can assume human form and frighten or kill those who seek it. These old rituals inspired me for this painting. All these traditions of the Kupala night are depicted in the picture. Here you see the story through the eyes of the person who found this flower. But it is not easy to find him in the picture. Can you do it? A fern flower can be found only by a boy without exception. The girl is not just an evil guardian spirit, she looks as if she knows who she sees in front of her, she has been waiting for him. And those who met her before him look over their left shoulder.
I paint in the style of surrealism, impressionism and traditional Ukrainian Petrykiv painting.
