The central image is a face looking into space, surrounded by a surreal landscape and the phantasmagoric creatures that inhabit this world. Like jellyfish and floating flower seeds, they float in the air, taking us into a world of dreams and fantasies. The hand at the bottom of the painting, which seems to come from the unknown, encourages the viewer to think about the nature of reality and illusion. The work is done with oil paints on a wooden panel, which creates deep and saturated shades that give the image a special texture and volume.
Elena Bezhenova was born in the Caucasus. It was the place of birth that determined the artist’s interest in studying and observing nature. In particular, Elena is professionally engaged in entomology and collects a personal collection of insects.
