In 'Thumb Sucker: A Silent Tale', Sonny Andersson masterfully recaptures the essence of childhood tranquility. This piece is part of a series inspired by photographs taken by the artist's father, presenting the viewer with a poignant glimpse into the quiet moments of a child's life. The subject, depicted succumbing to sleep's embrace, serves not just as a tender portrait but as a mirror reflecting the universal narratives of childhood innocence and the warmth of home. With subtle details and a warm palette, this piece beautifully conveys the comforting and enduring spirit of family memories.
I was born and raised in Grimsås Tranemo municipality but since 2020 I live in Helsingborg Sweden Since I retired as an accountant in 2019, I can now devote myself to my painting. I now work mostly on commissioned paintings from digital photographs and passionately strive to create realistic paintings that only come from constantly improving my craft through continuous training and study. As a portrait painter, I use a traditional oil painting technique layer upon layer wet on wet that captures the feeling of joy in the oil painting process. What you get is a portrait created in the same way as portraits you would find in a museum and thus has lasting value.
