Black Ishtar On A Red Stallion

The painting is my take on the Yin-Yang dance of energies. This image shows a black female figure riding a scarlet horse. The image is based on myths and represents the first merger of male and female energies for life's genesis. In this image, the woman is a symbol of creativity, the dark void from where everything starts. The female figure also invokes elements of the biblical story. However, in my depiction, she becomes the tree of knowledge, representing both cause and effect. The scarlet horse symbolizes masculinity, as red is a purely masculine color in the Taoist tradition. It embodies blind force and guiding spirit, covering a wide range of symbolism from light to darkness, heaven to earth, and life to death. The heart signifies the movement of life, affection, and warmth of blood. This is shown here by the DNA strands unwinding from the heart's aorta Life arises only from duality, from male and female, unity and struggle of opposites.
