Description of the Artwork “The submerged city”

Automatic translation

The Sunken City is inspired by the Mycenaean city of Pavlopetri (Greece), seen from a drone. It is fascinating to see what the discovery of one of the oldest submerged cities was like. The grid that corresponds to the remains of the city are visible from the air and are very close to the coast. For this recreation and to achieve the effects, a mixed technique based on cement glue for the texture, acrylic paint and resin for glazes has been used. This work has been donated to the Círculo de Pintores Solidarios, which collaborates with the Red Cross and other cooperation organizations.

About the artist

Roser JB, Spain

“The reason is completely secondary for me; what I want to represent is what exists between me and the motif.” (Claude Monet) Trained in Art History and passionate about Fine Arts. From a very young age I enjoyed painting and although my career was in other areas, I remain faithful to my passion. I love experimenting with colors and textures. I work on canvas (mainly), using mixed media or on watercolor paper. With painting, every day there is a new creation and the abstract impressionist theme is what inspires me the most, leaving me free to compose, trying to convey emotion with each brushstroke. In general, my work is characterized by the chromatic variety and the depth of the texture. I try to pick up the color of Venetian painting, English, German, Russian romanticism... Impressionism and abstraction. It is an idea, a memory, a wink... works that have marked me, adding my personal stamp. And sometimes, the color itself is what marks my inspiration. Having a project in mind, it ends in a totally different way than imagined: a line, a stain, a shape... My goal is to convey to the viewer the exclusive beauty of colors, combined in a thousand ways, expressing subtle sensations.
