Tomás Castaño was born in Santander (Spain) in 1953. Internationally recognized artist, Self-taught, he has forged himself through determination and enthusiasm, opting for a realistic pictorial style, to which addresses by capturing constructed and well-drawn compositions. , worrying about composition and drawing, controls perspective and also the faculties that have led him to achieve a condition of landscaper characterized by his architectural work. His work is characterized by a serene and poetic realism, which translates the artist's delight in the expression of traditional streets, buildings and facades. His paintings capture the magic of the aesthetics of the old and transmit all the warmth and humanization of the environments not transformed by the actual life. He has shown his work in group exhibitions in several countries such as the United States, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, France, Portugal, Argentina, Italy and numerous individual and group exhibitions in the Spanish territory. He has represented Cantabria at the Florence Biennial in the 2005 edition. His work is recognized for the peculiar style and atmosphere that it creates in the finish of its series of old taverns. His work appears in collections in Spain, France, Australia, Portugal, Greece, Taiwan, India, United Kingdom, Austria, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States and Costa Rica. In 2012 he was invited by The General Electric Company, USA to participate in the exhibition of Hispanic Heritage Month art. In 2012 he was invited by the Bellarte Seoul-Korea Gallery to participate in the Art Fair Iberoamericana in Seoul 2012 and 2013, showing his work alongside works by prestigious artists such as Fernando Botero, Oswaldo Guayasamín, Rufino Tamayo and Roberto Fabelo. In 2015 it was selected to exhibit at the most important Asia-Pacific event ART REVOLUTION TAIPEI 2016 (Taiwan). Has been selected as a finalist in the Art Revolution Taipei Competition 2017, 2018 and 2019, obtaining the Gallery award in the last edition. In 2022 it will be in this important fair. Again in 2023 he has been a finalist in ART revolution Taipei and also invited to participate in the mentioned fair. His work is permanently exhibited at the Cromática Museum.
