This impressive work of art, created using oils on canvas in the year 2024, is born from the skill and creativity of Mercedes Gordo. Fusing brush and palette knife techniques, this abstract piece of a seascape transports us to a frozen cliff where the sea breaks strongly. Through meticulously constructed textures, the artist manages to evoke the rigid beauty of the rocks against the relentless waves, capturing the essence of the interaction between ice and water.
Art has always been my calling. I believe there is something deeply transformative in creating, in shaping matter and turning it into a personal and magical space, channeling a unique sensitivity to observe and interpret the world. Painting is my language; a way to communicate and, at the same time, positively isolate myself from everyday reality. Through each brushstroke, I find a way to express emotions and feelings that I could hardly communicate otherwise. Painting allows me to reveal the most sensitive facet of my being and share my own vision of the world. Thus, my works seek to convey not only emotions, but also messages and reflections on our existence, social challenges and life itself. My artistic career began in realism, focused on landscapes and still lifes. Over time, I have explored more contemporary techniques and styles, creating a fusion between the classic and the modern. In each work, my goal is for the design, color and texture to awaken deep emotions in the viewer and open a space for reflection.
