Undulating lilies. White in colour, seeking sun, atop the pond their tender dance, rides daily till it’s done. Fragile snowflakes sparkle as the water sways below, (as) tales of nymphs and fairies remain whispered via the flow. May then by chance a mermaid through the darkness may be heard. (While the) stately water lily through the dusk’s light ‘seeming stirred. The elders speak of legends. Speak of magic. Speak of power. The majesty, avidity, encompassed in the flower. With thongs bowed low from each degree. The water’s edge a sanctuary. They stand aghast from grass to tree. They cometh for the hour. With arms outstretched. With words unspoken. Desperate need the petal token must be touched and lore admired. The beauty and the rune desired. And to the keeper she bestows a good luck charm afore a quest. As every nomad surely knows, to wear this beauty on their chest. The traveller will sure be blessed.
Currently representative of three local art communities: Farnham Art Society, Winchester Art Club and the Downend Art Society, where I am respected and regularly exhibit. I transfer images of the natural world to paper or canvas, working in various media including. I am inspired by classic and abstract styles and I believe the marriage works. I truly hope that others feel the same when they view the results.
