Mercedes Gordo invites us on a sensory journey through this captivating representation of Lake Baikal. The work, using oil on canvas, encapsulates the spirit of nature at its finest. The artist's figurative approach harmonizes the calm serenity of the water with the vibrant life around it, offering a unique perspective of this iconic Siberian landscape. The detailed brush strokes and choice of colors convey the freshness of the Siberian summer, the echo of the waves, and the calm that only places as remote and pure as Baikal can inspire. This painting, more than just a landscape, is a tribute to the unaltered heart of Siberia and an invitation to explore its secrets.
Art has always been my calling. I believe there is something deeply transformative in creating, in shaping matter and turning it into a personal and magical space, channeling a unique sensitivity to observe and interpret the world. Painting is my language; a way to communicate and, at the same time, positively isolate myself from everyday reality. Through each brushstroke, I find a way to express emotions and feelings that I could hardly communicate otherwise. Painting allows me to reveal the most sensitive facet of my being and share my own vision of the world. Thus, my works seek to convey not only emotions, but also messages and reflections on our existence, social challenges and life itself. My artistic career began in realism, focused on landscapes and still lifes. Over time, I have explored more contemporary techniques and styles, creating a fusion between the classic and the modern. In each work, my goal is for the design, color and texture to awaken deep emotions in the viewer and open a space for reflection.
