Red sprites are a natural optical phenomenon that occurs during severe thunderstorms in the upper atmosphere. Sprites appear as glowing reddish-orange flashes and last no more than a few milliseconds. Unlike normal thunderstorms, Sprites release an electrical charge up through the atmosphere rather than downwards, which is why they are also called "Rising Lightning". Relatives of red sprites are blue jets, elves, and hobgoblins. These amazing flashes above thunderstorms are difficult to see from the surface of the planet, due to their fleeting nature and height. They are mainly observed in mountainous regions of North America and Asia. However, material wizards from the California Institute of Astrophysics have found that red Sprites can appear not only on earth, but also on Jupiter and Venus. There is an assumption that in ancient times people mistook such atmospheric disturbances for elemental spirits, or elementals. This gives this phenomenon an additional aura of mystery and triumph.
In my work, I reflect on the multidimensionality of space, the nature of light and sound, and explore the mysteries of the universe and unusual phenomena. I've always been fascinated by the unknown; that which lies beyond the perception of three-dimensional reality. The images in my paintings are filled with an atmosphere of mystery and numinity. Coming up with each of the compositions, I come into contact with the otherworldly, trying to lift the veil of secrets in order to get closer to the Source. I like to experiment with different materials and techniques. I create my works in such mediums as painting, graphics, audio-visual performance, installation.
