As we enter 'Bosque Helado I' by Mercedes Gordo, we are transported to an ethereal winter landscape, where snow and ice weave a delicate and silent dance. Using the monochrome technique, the artist elevates this scene beyond a simple representation of the cold, making it resonate with the stillness and depth that only winter can offer. Each brush stroke evokes the tactile sensation of snow and ice, while the limited selection of color intensifies the viewer's visual and emotional experience. This painting invites you to contemplate and reflect on the coldest season, not only as a period in time, but as a meditative space full of peace and solitude.
Art has always been my calling. I believe there is something deeply transformative in creating, in shaping matter and turning it into a personal and magical space, channeling a unique sensitivity to observe and interpret the world. Painting is my language; a way to communicate and, at the same time, positively isolate myself from everyday reality. Through each brushstroke, I find a way to express emotions and feelings that I could hardly communicate otherwise. Painting allows me to reveal the most sensitive facet of my being and share my own vision of the world. Thus, my works seek to convey not only emotions, but also messages and reflections on our existence, social challenges and life itself. My artistic career began in realism, focused on landscapes and still lifes. Over time, I have explored more contemporary techniques and styles, creating a fusion between the classic and the modern. In each work, my goal is for the design, color and texture to awaken deep emotions in the viewer and open a space for reflection.
