Mercedes Gordo transports us to a frozen lagoon where the stillness of the ice highlights the elegance of the birds in flight. Using shades of white, black and subtle grays, the artist creates a monochrome visual experience that tells the story of the wild and untamed. Each brushstroke details the delicacy of the wings in contrast to the solid surface of the lake, offering a study in the textures and shapes that the light from the sky spills over the frozen water. This painting, more than a representation of birds, is a tribute to the power of flight and the unchanging beauty of the natural world.
Painting is my form of communication that allows me to isolate myself from reality in a positive way. Through painting I can express emotions and feelings that are not so easy for me to communicate in any other way. Painting a picture gives me the opportunity to bring out a large part of my most sensitive interior and show my own vision of the world.
