In 'The Frozen Forest', Mercedes Gordo offers us more than a simple winter landscape; It gives us an immersive experience of stillness and contemplation. The monochrome technique becomes a powerful tool in Gordo's hands, exploring the infinite range of grays to draw not only the physics of the trees encased in ice but also their spectral and silent soul. This canvas becomes a mirror, reflecting the calm flow of water, the ethereal dance of clouds and the immutable presence of trees, offering a reflective pause in our accelerated time.
Painting is my form of communication that allows me to isolate myself from reality in a positive way. Through painting I can express emotions and feelings that are not so easy for me to communicate in any other way. Painting a picture gives me the opportunity to bring out a large part of my most sensitive interior and show my own vision of the world.
