Oleksandra Kubankina, Ukraine

I am Oleksandra Kubankina, an artist from the Kherson region, a volunteer of the "Support Kherson" BF, a member of the "Portal of Independent Artists" project, and a mother of many children. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, she found herself in the occupation with her family and decided to help the country in every possible way. She co-organized meetings in the community, distributed Ukrainian tapes, created commissioned portraits, and donated the seized funds to support the Armed Forces. In 4 months, we managed to collect about UAH 20,000. During the occupation, my family faced many trials. One of which is lack of communication. Then the occupiers silenced the work of all Ukrainian operators. Sometimes it seemed that you were alone with the circumstances. Russian terrorists did everything to make us lose faith. After moving to Kyiv, she began volunteering, simultaneously drawing stelae and signs of the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region on paper, with the aim of supporting the indomitable spirit of the Kherson people. I believe that moral support is no less important for residents of temporarily occupied territories. She highlighted the work in social networks and received a lot of positive feedback along with requests to draw other settlements. Some of them, unfortunately, have already been destroyed by the Russian invaders. In the spring, a message was received with a request to transfer the picture to the flag. Since then, more than 200 flags have been created and are traveling around Europe. Part of the withdrawn funds is also intended to help the Armed Forces. I believe that victory will come soon and I will bring my flag with the image of my native community home.
