The work 'Vals de las Flores' by Mercedes Gordo transcends the canvas to invite the viewer to a visual dance, where blue and red tones intertwine in a dance of textures and shapes. The spatula technique provides a three-dimensionality that suggests movement; Each brush stroke is a dance step in this abstract waltz that evokes the feeling of an ancient and dreamy garden, a piece of art and design that stimulates the senses.
Art has always been my calling. I believe there is something deeply transformative in creating, in shaping matter and turning it into a personal and magical space, channeling a unique sensitivity to observe and interpret the world. Painting is my language; a way to communicate and, at the same time, positively isolate myself from everyday reality. Through each brushstroke, I find a way to express emotions and feelings that I could hardly communicate otherwise. Painting allows me to reveal the most sensitive facet of my being and share my own vision of the world. Thus, my works seek to convey not only emotions, but also messages and reflections on our existence, social challenges and life itself. My artistic career began in realism, focused on landscapes and still lifes. Over time, I have explored more contemporary techniques and styles, creating a fusion between the classic and the modern. In each work, my goal is for the design, color and texture to awaken deep emotions in the viewer and open a space for reflection.
