Busy day at Sayyida Nafisa

Original watercolor painting of the street next to the mosque called Sayyida Nafisa in Old Cairo. Sayyida Nafisa bint al-Hassan was the great granddaughter of the Prophet Mohamed. Nowadays the mosque became a part of the famous City of the Dead with mausoleums and crypts. But just like in Medieval times, today here you will see women wearing traditional clothes rushing home with their purchases from the nearest market, and men spending the hot afternoon in various coffee shops with a water pipe and a cup of strong hot tea.
