This painting, titled ‘October Horse’ captures a horse’s face surrounded by a swirl of autumn leaves. Painted in blue and yellow tones, the horse seems to glow, as if illuminated by the fading light of a late autumn day. The vibrant yellow ochre color represents the golden leaves caught in the wind, while the deep blues evoke a sense of calm and introspection, reflecting the cooling season. I was inspired by a feeling of change that appears when October comes. As autumn leaves fall, they symbolize both an end and a beginning, the cycle of nature mirroring the cycles in our lives. The horse, strong yet serene, stands as a metaphor for resilience. It’s a creature of movement and freedom, but here it pauses, allowing itself a moment of quiet reflection. The blend of blue and yellow tones conveys a sense of harmony and duality, balancing the energy of life with the serenity of stillness. Real autumn fallen leaves were used in the work. Not a single living leaf was harmed)))
I was born in a small Ukrainian town in 1971. I have never been taught art. But I draw and paint every moment of my life. As a child, I lived in a house with lots of animals and observed their behavior. I learned to portray the emotions and movements of pets on her own since there was no art school in the town. Fleeing the war, I appeared in Denmark where I am based now. With my brush, I research emotions with the aim of opposing and finding common ground between human and animal psychology. In my works, I strive to awaken empathy and pay tribute to animals that fill our lives with devotion and love, and inspire us with their natural beauty. I speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
