Zherdev Vitaly Viktorovich (born in 1971, Ukraine). Professor, Doctor. Professor of the Florence Academy of Classical Arts. Invited expert of the Brera Academy in Milan. Visiting professor at the University of Pisa and Urbino (Italy). Professor of the Drawing Department of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Honorary Professor of the Sichuan Normal University, College of Film and Television Arts (PRC). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. In 1990 he graduated from the Kharkiv State Art School. In 1997 he graduated from the Kharkiv Art and Industry Institute. Specialty: artist-restorer. Since 2002 he began teaching at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. In the period 2005-2016 he made research trips to Austria, Germany, France and other Western European countries. Participated in international conferences of the European League of Art Institutes in Berlin (2005) and Budapest (2006). Interned at the Burg-Giebichenstein Higher School of Art and Design (Hochschule für Künste und Design Burg-Giebichenstein Halle, Germany). In 2010, he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of art history on the topic "Sacred art in Russian Orthodox churches in Germany (19th - early 20th centuries)". 2013 - 2014 - teaching at Sichuan Normal University, Yunnan University of the Arts and other art universities in China. 2015 - 2018 - doctoral student in the Department of Theory and History of Art, Kharkiv State Academy of Arts and Design. 2016 - 2019 — research work in Denmark, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and Finland. Author of the monographs "Mikhail and Vitaly Zherdev: meeting through the decades" and "The Golden Age of Orthodox Church Building in Germany (1806-1914): history and synthesis of arts", as well as numerous publications on the topic of Russian church art of the 19th - early 20th centuries in Western Europe. Creative work in the genre of portrait, landscape and religious painting. The works belong to collections and galleries in Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany, the USA, including the Center for the Arts and Religion at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington D.C., USA.
