After a long break, I returned to painting. While studying at the architectural institute, I felt best in gouache, so my first work was done in this technique. The basis was a random photo of apples from our garden lying on a homemade rustic table. The bright, juicy tones of apples contrast well with the brown wood of the table. The photo was taken from an unusual angle, from above. This perspective gives an individual character to this still life. Gouache makes it possible to create a strong color and tonal contrast, which was achieved. The bright red tones of the apples almost “fall out” from the plane of the picture. Deep shadows lift the apples even further from the table. This is done intentionally to emphasize the materiality of the apples. The work was done on 200g paper 29x40cm, shoud be in a frame with glass.
I am a freelance artist and designer, work in watercolors and a little in oils. I am also a sculptor, I make sculptures from wood. Presently I live constantly in Bulgaria.
