'Balance I' is an abstract work created in my studio in Melbourne. I have used ink and watercolor on BFK Rives Paper. It is inspired by the Australian gardens and landscape.
Violeta Čapovska is an Australian/Macedonian interdisciplinary artist who works in a variety of media including installation, video, photography, printmaking and performance. She received a BA in Fine Art from the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of 'Cyril and Methodius’ in Skopje in 1991 and an MFA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1995. In February/March 2022, she was a resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Since her first exhibition at the National Gallery of Macedonia in 1991, Čapovska’s work has been shown at private and public galleries and museums, including the Art Gallery of Ballarat, Dianne Tanzer Gallery Melbourne, Australian Print Workshop, The National Gallery of Australia, MUMOK Vienna, Museum of Contemporary Art-Skopje and the Museum of the City of Skopje. Čapovska’s work is held in many international, national and state collections, such as: the National Gallery of Australia, Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Macedonia, Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje and the Museum of the City of Skopje. In 2016 she was a recipient of the ‘James Northfield Lithography scholarship’, and in 2020 she won the 18th ‘Grand Prix Biennial Award’ (DLUM-The Association of Macedonian Artists). Her work features in the ‘Australian Printmaking in the 1990’s', by Sasha Grishin (Craftsman House) and the ‘VISUAL ARTS in Macedonia-20th century/Book 2: MULTIMEDIA ART’ by Abadzieva Sonia (OSTEN).
