Mercury - a picture of a modern Ukrainian artist, writing under the pseudonym Arna Logard. Mercury is truly a mysterious planet. It is closest to the Sun and the smallest of the terrestrial planets. The Romans named it in honor of the god of commerce, the fleet-footed messenger of Mercury, as it moves faster than other planets on the celestial sphere. They knew about it from the time of the Sumerians, about 5 thousand years ago. Mercury was also given various names because of the different times of its appearance - the Morning Star and the Evening Star. Mercury is indestructible under a hail of meteorites, like a man, and changeable, like a woman. It symbolizes the human beginning.
