Description of the Artwork “BROKEN SLEEP”

Daria Tkacheva dedicated the art piece «BROKEN SLEEP» to the anxious and unsettling feeling, which haunts a human in the deep nightly darkness. In the wake during nighttime hidden thoughts are being open to us, we reach insights, dreams and fears. The mind is defenceless in front of the explosive current of thoughts that rupture from the depths of of subconsciousness. However, in these depths we can learn more about ourselves, and meet the real “me”. By adding a neon yellow-green colour the artist creates an accent on the relativity of the reality in the moment of a nighttime awakening. Almost ragged strokes of paint create the additional effect that brings the viewer to the familiar feeling.

About the artist

Daria Tkacheva is a young abstract artist, was born in Moscow. Her works are an expression of emotions - impulsive and sometimes smooth gestures on the canvas. She predominantly works in a mixed media. Using acrylic, oil pastel and charcoal. “I create these pieces to work through personal and creative struggles. It makes me feel free from my mind when you can transfer everything that was inside to the canvas. When you looking at these works is like you're reading my book, and you can feel that this process has made me stronger. That's what art is supposed to do. Make people feel something.”
