About the gallery Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine (Kiev)

On June 17, 2005, the first private Museum of Modern Art in our country hospitably opened its doors to visitors. It was located in the historical part of Podol on two floors of a building on Bratska Street, 14, and immediately gained a large circle of fans. At first there was a small collection, which its owner - the well-known businessman and philanthropist Serhiy Tsyupko started collecting 20 years ago. It was based on non-figurative paintings of modern Ukrainian artists. Then there was a completely understandable desire to expand the temporal and geographical boundaries of the collection, focusing, however, on Ukrainian art of the second half of the 20th century, which, unfortunately, is almost absent in national museums. When the number of works, their authors and the artistic trends they represent increased significantly, a decision was made to "museumize" the collection. In December 2009, the Museum moved to a new three-story building on the street. Hlybochytskyi, 17. Large areas (over 3.5 thousand square meters) made it possible to form the first permanent exhibition of the best works of the collection (it occupied the second and third floors of the Museum). During the 5 years of the Museum's existence, many interesting exhibitions were held on Hlybochytskyi, projects, etc. In September 2014, the Museum opened its doors on St. Kyrylivska, 41. Today, these are four exhibition spaces for permanent and temporary exhibitions (the entire 1st floor). Currently, this is the only museum in our country, where the works of many representatives of various art schools and directions of all regions of Ukraine are stored from the 1930s of the 20th century to the present day. The collection includes more than five thousand works of painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative and applied art. The collection contains the works of more than 700 authors. The Museum has a library; theoretical and practical events are held in the lecture hall: workshops, lectures, seminars, round tables, conferences with the invitation of Ukrainian and foreign art critics, artists, curators, gallerists and everyone who is interested in the state and problems of contemporary art in Ukraine and its presentation abroad of our state. In the future, the opening of an art studio, the introduction of educational programs and programs for working with children of preschool and school age are planned, because the museum is a place where children should feel cozy, comfortable and relaxed, gain knowledge and create.
