About the artist: Nersel zur Muehlen’s creative work includes portrait paintings, paintings inspired by travel photos, ethnic costumes, different cultures, and faces from around the world. Her signature is painting “soulful eyes” with empathy, curiosity and love. Nersel grew up in Istanbul, Turkey and moved to the US when she was 23. She has been drawing as long as she can remember. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Masters Degrees. After a 15 year career in the business world, she has decided to leave her day job to pursue creative arts-in various forms and “live art”. Over the years she has taken design, drawing and art classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the New School in New York City. She has been training with award winning master artists in the “old masters’ technique of oil paintings” for the past several years. She lives with her daughter and her husband in Hoboken, NJ. She is mostly inspired by travel photos, ethnic costumes, diversity and different cultures. Ich bin in Istanbul aufgewachsen und mit 24 in die USA gezogen. Ich habe einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Politikwissenschaft und öffentlicher Verwaltung sowie einen Master-Abschluss in Personalmanagement und Informationssystemen. Nach einer 15-jährigen Karriere in der Wirtschaft habe ich mich entschieden, meinen Hauptberuf aufzugeben, um mich kreativen Künsten in verschiedenen Formen zu widmen. Ich habe Kunst schon immer geliebt und zeichne schon seit ich klein bin. Im Laufe der Jahre habe ich an der New York Academy of Art, dem Fashion Institute of Technology und der New School in New York City Design, Aktzeichnen, Ölmalerei, Porträtmalerei, Töpferei und verschiedene andere Kunstkurse besucht. Ich habe in den letzten Jahren bei einem Meistermaler eine Ausbildung in altmeisterlichen Ölmaltechniken gemacht. Ich habe an einer Reihe von Workshops mit Meisterkünstlern in New York City teilgenommen. Ich bin Mitglied des Art Renewal Center, der Portrait Society of America, American Women Artists und Oil Painters of America. Kürzlich wurde ich im American Art Collector Magazine vorgestellt. Ich lebe und arbeite in Brooklyn, New York.
