This piece was done back at NIU as project done in my painting class. The images comes from a photo shoot I did back in 1995 in Downtown Chicago standing at the doorway of the federal state prison. I found the poeple in this piece interesting depicting the daily life of the people relaxing, eating, talking, reading, resting outside and also that there sunlight, but no sky in this outdoor painting. This being one of my 1st Chicago urban landscape paintings helped me understand my process and develope my skill as a painter.
I am a photo realist painter that works with acrylics on canvas. My primary focus is on the Urban Landscape; Chicago / European. My compositions are usually ambitious and involve a lot of detail and information. Although a typical painting will take up to 150 hours, they are very rewarding when completed. This is the type of artwork I love and am drawn to.
