Emerald lake

Yesterday’s travellers were adventurers in search of the extraordinary. And that’s exactly what they found when they arrived by rail and horse-drawn coach to the shores of B.C.’s exquisite Emerald Lake – located in the heart of what is known today as Yoho National Park. Legendary guide Tom Wilson first stumbled across this small gem of a lake – famed for its jade-coloured waters – in 1882 during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Today, the area remains one of North America’s most outstanding and year-round accessible wilderness settings. This picture conveys the atmosphere of this wonderful place.
