Small is beautiful: this miniature (10 x 10 cm) is inspired by a margin detail of a French Renaissance manuscript painting. The support is a French artisanal pachment. The medieval technique is used with pigments mixed with a medieval tempera made of clear egg and honey and arabic gum. In a standard natural oak frame of 21 x 21 cm
I am a French professional miniaturist using historical manuscripts painting methods. I use parchment or local artisanal paper. My art studio is located in Vertou, south of Nantes, on the banks of the Sèvre, in the Loire valley vineyard. I create unique or in small series illuminations, with an medieval or contemporary iconography. But always with noble and natural materials, such as parchment of goat, kid, sheep or calf, mineral or vegetable pigments, earths, ochres, binders based on egg clear, honey water and arabic gum. The production chain is thus mastered with artisanal recipes proven for over 1000 years!
