About the artist
Rifat Ara Mim

Rifat Ara Mim, Bangladesh

I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember. Art is the one thing that I have aways enjoyed. I am looking for the boundary where safety and fear lies. Basically everything what we see is image, and emotions is that inner feelings, which is beyond in this image. I am searching for a scenery with a combination of these missing content. We have a scream inside us which is been creating by our surrounding reasons, and we're all hiding it from each other. When the surroundings merge with the content and it turns into a scream, from my own point of view I transform it into an image. I am inspired by Francis Bacon,Vincent Van Gogh and Rembrandt. I love the blending, filmlike quality of watercolor, experiments and thick textures of acrylic and the buildup of transparency that oil can achieve. These materials contribute their history to the timeless emotion I am looking for. Born 1995 in Bogura,Rajshahi,Bangladesh.Currently based in Dhaka,Bangladesh. From an early age I started drawing holding my mother's hand,I started Art College in 2011, but the institutional rules began to seem tied to my work. After completing Bfa(pre)degree coursein 2013, I decided to leave my academic journey for more freedom to think and not get guided by any dogma.
