Description of the Artwork “Vreadwinner”
Material: gilding (metal alloy), sequins, canvas, oil, 4 types of varnishes The painting participated in exhibitions: 2021- “No Taboo. Renewal", Municipal Gallery, Kharkov, Ukraine 2023- Fifth Festival of Contemporary Women's Art. Exhibition "Allegory of Power". UAFRA, Institute of Contemporary Art. Kyiv, Ukraine. The painting was created under the influence of the myth about the creation of the Roman Empire, about how a she-wolf nursed two brothers Romulus and Remus. But in this work we are talking about creating an internal empire. Also works by Nietzsche (the theory that man is a bridge between angel and beast), Henri Rousseau’s painting “Beauty and the Beast” from 1908, paintings by Georgia O Keefe and Edvard Munch. Refers to the following directions: Expressionism, German Expressionism, Symbolism, Mythical realism, Brutus art, in terms of composition - Constructivism. This picture is about female power, matriarchy, femininity. The colors in the photo may differ slightly from the original, depending on your computer screen.
