Description of the Artwork “In Fight For Love”

Part of the artist's "Tender Flesh" series this work focuses on the inner chaos and after math felt by children fleeing war-torn countries and art as a refuge of hope and healing. Growing up in New York City, I was exposed to the urban colors and imagery of the city. My surroundings and a fascination with the abstract expressionism movement played a major role in me becoming an artist. I approach the surface as an art journal page in which I fuse semi-abstract imagery, lines, scribbles and abstract text applied with palette knives and acrylic markers. My work can reference current events, present day personal experiences, visual childhood anecdotes and family relationships in life and literature. Bright colors and raw textures are an essential element in of my work, resulting in frenetic paintings with energetic abstractions bursting with color and emotionally charged imagery.
