Thomas Dellert,
HELDEN

Description of the Piece
A painting and collage on canvas with a pile of dead skulls and pictures and propaganda posters of German Wehrmacht soldiers during world war two. This is in memory of the many millions of Germans who gave their lives but never was remembered as they happen to fight on the losing side and represent a brutal dictator. But they still gave their lives for their fatherland and their families and they were young much too young to die. Like to poem by Housman states Here dead we lie, Because we did not choose to live, and shame the land from which we sprung Life to be sure, is nothing much to lose, but young men think it is, and we were young.
