Phoenix Feathers is an expressive painting with blazing red and yellow to represent the fight of the flames and how pain may sear, but the yellow also represents hope and optimism, illustrating that we wouldn't know what joy was unless we had suffered. The black and white reflect contrast and duality, which we desire (the light and dark; yin and yang). We may respect both experiences as we advance along the journey. It's when we purify ourselves daily of our attachments to transient nonsense that doesn't matter, things we're clinging to, that we let go and let God. "The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master." The transcendental element of this mythological bird that rises from the ashes is represented in this piece. A rebirth that makes you a better version of yourself. This is a great sign and reminder that we all have this strength within us. My name is Alexandra Romano, I am an artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. My passion is creating eye-catching artworks which include bold colour schemes; vibrant abstracts that stand out as a focal point in any space - a conversation piece. I am an abstract artist, who delights in the freedom of abstraction and the ability to explore impressionism and expressionism. Works are frequently inspired by nature, geometric elements and life all around. I work primarily with acrylics and I enjoy experimenting with oils, ink and spray paint too. I rely on a natural, intuitive approach while creating my paintings. I craftily use unorthodox tools and my signature techniques to create texture to give the piece interesting depth and a unique design. I love to experiment and be present during the whole process as I observe each piece come to life, layer by layer; it's my meditation.
