Beek - 25-04-20 Sometimes cementeries can be fun, especially when they are old and situated near old churches and trees in the midst of Beek, Gelderland, Netherlands. I know this one for all my life and its official name is the ‘Bartholomeuskerkje’. That is where I went for a sketching session with my dad last Thursday where I did 90 percent of the drawing. Today I added some leafs in the chesnut trees in the front and accentuated the vintage bricks and boulders in church wall. Furthermore I made the sky a little darker for the roof top to pop out maximally. In the background the newer“Sint Bartholomeuskerk” is visible. 1969, born in Nijmegen. My work can be seen in many countries all over the world. I employ a variety of styles that all have one thing in common: the ever search for the light on phenomena and all the shadows and light planes they block in. My favorites in doing so are oil paint, dry pastel and graphite pencil. It is not the form or the theme that counts but the way planes of certain tonal quality vary and block in the lights.
